THE PERFORMANCE COURSE
$900

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

Pilots, Doctors, Police, Mining... high professionals
The Performance Course was developed in 2010 after experienced Air Force Flight Instructor and examiner Ray Werndly repeatedly witnessed competent and professional individuals deliver degraded performances when under scrutiny and examination. Pilots are often fully aware their performance is sub-maximal during an examination and yet feel unable to switch into top gear.

Within the industry, this phenomenon is often referred to as 'checkitis'. The experience of checkitis is not addressed during normal training or remediation, it is not resolved by CRM programs and it is not escaped though applying normal preparation techniques. Consequently, it can frustrate pilots, remaining unresolved for years.

The degraded performances under check conditions are commonly treated with inefficient and mis-directed remedial training on technical skills that the candidate already has in hand, whilst the trainee's reaction to examination scenarios remains unaddressed altogether... awaiting an absolution that never comes.

Drawn from Captain Werndly's three and a half decade career as an Air Force pilot with 22 years specifically in Flight Instruction and Examinations, the course is designed to address this issue directly and effectively. The course fact-checks the consequences of failure, challenges ideas around under-performance and exposes the underlying causes of the related stress.

Participants leave the course equipped with enhanced knowledge and simple and powerful tools for diffusing both chronic stress and startle reactions in-the-moment. Course participants repeatedly report back with sudden improvements in performance, higher situational awareness and lower stress levels during subsequent checks.

The Performance Course rapidly gained traction across Australasia having now assisted over 1000 professional pilots.

The course outcomes significantly enhance general decision making skills and stamina under pressure and may be used to prime for any stress event ahead of time.

Accordingly, customised concepts from the Performance Course have assisted high professionals across several other industries.

Content
Select findings from aviation and the fields of medical science and psychology are reviewed, forming a foundation for the key concept.

"What got you here, won't get you there.".
The Performance Course explains precisely why the common treatments such as working harder, preparing more, or conducting additional training cannot work to resolve this performance issue.

The causes that underpin the fear of failure are not ignored, they are systematically identified, precisely targeted and effectively neutralised. Through using simple variations in perspective, situations previously described as 'difficult' can transform into desirable experiences regardless of the outcome. Candidates are handed powerful, easy-to-remember techniques for harnessing or diffusing personal tension when it begins to emerge...

The concepts are effective for dealing with all stressors; including unsavoury rostering, the possibility of job loss; and more acute stress reactions brought on by real inflight emergencies.

The Effect
Hundreds of graduates report a permanent and significant improvement in their performance and decision making and a heightened capacity for dealing with their cyclic simulator checks, Command upgrades, line checks, First Officer upgrades, aircraft conversions.
